Capturing the Stage Where the Future Takes Shape: French-Japanese Business Summit

On November 6, the 8th French-Japanese Business Summit was held at Nikkei Hall in Tokyo. Under this year’s theme, “Japan Dream – Building Optimism in Unpredictable Times,” the event brought together more than 900 business leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs. Throughout the day, participants explored how Japan and France can continue building hope and momentum in an increasingly unpredictable world.

The summit opened with a keynote address by former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who emphasized that global challenges “can only be overcome through cooperation that transcends borders,” highlighting the vital role of the France–Japan partnership in shaping a sustainable future. Following the opening, a series of sessions touched on a wide range of topics—from geopolitics and innovation to the digital economy and industrial strategy.

The day concluded with closing remarks from CCIFJ President Jérôme Chouchan, who noted that the Japanese spirit of “innovation and respect for tradition” is a powerful force that will help the country move confidently through this era of transformation.

Throughout the venue, a wide range of programs unfolded over the course of the day—from keynote speeches and panel discussions on topics such as urban development, AI, mobility, and green technology, to intimate fireside talks where speakers shared personal experiences and perspectives. The exhibition area showcased cutting-edge solutions from French and Japanese companies, while the VIP lunch offered a relaxed setting for leaders and stakeholders to connect. Across all these moments, a common atmosphere emerged: one filled with energy, dialogue, and a shared spirit of co-creation, trust, and forward-looking optimism.
