Hybrid Event with Simultaneous Interpretation TICAD 9 Partner Project: Unlocking Africa's Potential - Opportunities for EU-Japan Business Cooperation

We were in charge of photography and online distribution for the "TICAD 9 Partner Project: Unlocking Africa's Potential - Opportunities for EU-Japan Business Cooperation" organized by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation.
The event was held at the Delegation of the European Union to Japan (Europe House, Tokyo) in a hybrid format, held simultaneously in person and online.
2025 marks an important milestone for the partnership between Africa, Europe and Japan. Against the backdrop of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) and the EU-Africa Business Forum, discussions on sustainable growth, investment and green transitions have been placed high on the international agenda.
Against this backdrop, the event was held with the aim of showcasing Africa as an attractive investment destination for Japanese and EU companies and highlighting joint EU-Japan projects.

Photography, distribution, and simultaneous interpretation all in one
At this event, we were responsible for the following:
・Photography at the venue (speakers, session scenes, overall view of the venue, networking)
・Hybrid distribution equipment setup and distribution operations
・Establishment of an audio line including Japanese-English simultaneous interpretation
- Switching between presentation video and documentary video
・Creating recording data for distribution
・Post-event highlight video production
By handling photography, streaming, and simultaneous interpretation all at once, we were able to consolidate pre-meetings and create a system that allowed us to simultaneously check progress and organize audio design.
Additionally, hybrid events with simultaneous English and Japanese interpretation require more complex audio design than standard streaming.
・Establish an audio system that manages speaker audio and interpreter audio separately
(The audio flow needs to be organized for the venue and the broadcast.)
- Audio and volume settings appropriate for both in-person and online participants
When an interpreter is involved, the number of audio routes increases, so it becomes even more important to share information in advance and for staff to work together on the day.
