A report on the "Fukuoka Gala Dinner 2026," a glamorous evening where French cuisine and art merged.

On Monday, May 18, 2026, I was in charge of photography for the "Fukuoka Gala Dinner" hosted by the French Chamber of Commerce in Japan (CCI France Japon) at the Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Fukuoka.
Over 130 guests, including the French Consul General in Tokyo, the Vice Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture, and the Vice Mayor of Fukuoka City, gathered for an evening that blended French cuisine and art.
For dinner, a special one-night-only menu was offered, created by Chef Masafumi Hamano, who returned to his hometown of Fukuoka after receiving two Michelin stars for six consecutive years starting in 2018.
Additionally, wine from Bordeaux, Fukuoka City's sister city, was provided by the Bordeaux Wine Committee (CIVB).
In the second half of the gala, a duet concert was held featuring pianist Ayako Hayashi and flutist Genta Usui, both active members of the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, performing a number of famous pieces with French ties.
